Sofitel Manila Hosts Crayfish Party 2019, a Viking-Themed Dinner Party For a Cause

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, in partnership with NordCham Philippines and Philippines Norway Business Council, presents Crayfish Party, which will be held on September 14, 2019, at Sofitel’s Harbor Garden Tent.

Take part in a grand feast set in a Viking-themed coastal village featuring bountiful servings of crayfish on a Nordic spread that includes home-made gravadlax with honey dill mustard sauce, herring, and potatoes; Swedish meatballs with gravy and lingonberry jam; sausages; surkål; cod and salmon fillets; and sailor’s stew. Drink free-flowing, ice-cold San Miguel beer and party out to an ABBA musical tribute by the Silk Band. Expect DJ Yuki to sustain the party mood with her playlist of chart-topping hits.

The tradition of feasting on crayfish became popular in Scandinavia in the 16th century, during the reign of Swedish King Erik XIV. Due to a plague in 1907 that nearly wiped out the crayfish population, a law now prohibits crayfish fishing year-round, except during crayfish season, which starts in August.

The Crayfish Party is held annually for the benefit of Chosen Children Village (CCV), a foundation dedicated to providing a home and care facility for physically and mentally-challenged children. Over the last four years, the event has raised P 1.4 million. The funds are used to sustain the daily operations of the facility and improve the quality of life of the children.

Tickets are priced at Php 3,900 per head and at Php 72,000 for a table of 20 people.
