Those millennials eh? What are they like with their lack of housing, diminishing sex lives, and demands for common sense gun laws.

If you've oft wondered if you're part of the most demonised generation of all time (*we're guessing) definitive new research will tell you whether you're part of the gang... or even older than you thought you were.

Prominent US think tank Pew Research Centre has announced that they will only apply the term millennial to those born between 1981 and 1996 meaning that if you're not currently aged between 22 and 36, you're out.

President of Pew Research Michael Dimock explained in a blog post that: “In order to keep the Millennial generation analytically meaningful, and to begin looking at what might be unique about the next cohort, Pew Research Centre will use 1996 as the last birth year for Millennials for our future work.”

He explained that there were several defining events within the lifetime of his age range which classified them as a millennial. These were growing up in the era defined by the September 11th terrorist attack, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars, America's first black president, and the economic recession.

They are also defined by coming-of-age in the Internet era and being quick adopters of new technology. In contrast to Generation Z who never knew a time without technology, millennials had to adapt to having it in their lives.

So basically if you've known a time of freedom and joy only to end up glued to your screen reading rolling news of terrorist attacks. You're a millennial!
