As the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country continues to balloon at an alarming rate, more and more hospitals are pushed to their maximum capacity, unable to take in new patients.

Included in this list are St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chinese General Hospital in Manila, the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa, The Makati Medical City, The Medical City in Pasig, and Delos Santos Medical Center in Quezon City.

In a bid to remedy the situation and help medical workers manage patients accordingly, aside from looking into establishing “mega quarantine centers,” the Department of Health has officially opened a telemedicine hotline operational starting today, April 7, 2020.

According to DOH’s announcement, the phone line seeks to “provide free consultations to patients who need COVID-19 medical advice, and other non-COVID-19 primary care consultations.” It will be manned by a consortium of licensed and certified doctors in partnership with Telimed Management Inc. and Medgate Philippines.
