Health Secretary Duque to Work From Home After DOH Official Tested Positive for COVID-19

He's on self-quarantine

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, 63, is now on self-quarantine and working from home after Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed on March 18 that a DOH director tested positive for COVID-19.

“I’ll be working from home for now, for 14 days," said Duque in a Manila Bulletin report. “I will continue to give orders to my entire DOH, which connects to the Inter-Agency Task Force [IATF] on Emerging Infectious Diseases.”

Duque also underwent testing for the virus; the results are expected in two to three days. According to Vergeire, the DOH patient, who is over 50 years old, is in stable condition.

Currently there are 217 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.

According to Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, President Rodrigo Duterte is continuing to work despite being exposed to Duque.
