FYI, Face Shields Are No Longer Required Outdoors
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday night removed the face shield requirement in outdoor areas but kept it in places with a high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Wearing of face shields will be limited to areas that fall under the 3Cs classification: closed, crowded, close-contact according to the President.
"Puwede na tanggalin sa labas. No more face shields outside. Ang limitasyon, ang face shield gamitin mo sa 3Cs (closed, crowded, close contact)...Diyan applicable pa rin ang face shield," he said.
The Philippines first made the wearing of face shields mandatory in public places late last year.
The wearing of face shields on top of face masks in all public places was first made mandatory in December last year as the country prepared for possible spikes in COVID-19 cases due to the holiday season.
But unlike face masks which are mandatory in all countries during the pandemic, face shields were not.
Earlier this year, the use or non-use of plastic gear became a hot and baffling topic after government officials issued contradicting statements on its use.
