I Lost 20 Pounds in 2 Weeks With This Diet and No Exercise
Last year, I thought I was living the most sedentary life working in front of a computer for eight hours a day, with the only exercise I had being the daily walk from the drop-off point on EDSA to my cubicle at the office. I averaged 6,000 steps a day, according to my Garmin watch.
But that was before the lockdown. Now, my daily walk to work was reduced to three steps from my bed to my desktop. I stopped looking at my daily steps, which have since lingered around 1,000 a day, including the road bumps that get counted whenever I drive to 7-Eleven.
Two weeks ago, I decided to try the 21-day keto challenge by Ketos of Manila. Under the program, a doctor and nutritionist will give you a free consultation so they can recommend the best type of meal program for you. My program was based on my age, weight, and height. They also asked about my medical history, particularly whether I am diabetic or have hypertension.

When my first meals started arriving, I had a period of adjustment that lasted for a day. I was used to eating heavy breakfasts, so when I opened my breakfast quiche and sugar-free Rite ’n Lite for the first day’s breakfast, I was still hungry afterward. So I cheated and ate additional sausage and eggs. This did not happen again, since Ketos of Manila provides filling meals and snacks.
I weighed 288 pounds when I stepped on the scale. Four days later, I weighed 277 pounds, losing 11 pounds. That’s equivalent to losing almost three pounds a day.
Apart from my keto diet, I also started intermittent fasting. In the morning, I only take black coffee, and then eat my breakfast at 11 a.m. or 12 noon. I eat my last meal of the day at 6 p.m.

Was I Ever Hungry Throughout the Keto Diet?
To be honest, I only felt hunger pangs on the first day of my diet program, which is understandable because I still needed a little time getting used to my new set of meals. Since then, my body has adjusted well to my reduced food intake.

What Changes Did I Feel Throughout the Keto Diet?
Sitting in front of the computer for many hours a day is very tiring, and for a guy of my age (I'm 32) and weight, getting up from my seat becomes a challenge called Dead Butt Syndrome. It's a type of discomfort felt on the bum after rising from a prolonged sitting position.
My weight probably had something to do with it because, after a week, the condition has greatly improved.
I am no longer having cravings at night, and I get full easily when I eat. This is probably because my stomach shrunk when it noticed I hadn't been eating like how I used to.
