Visiting a Museum or Art Gallery Could Make You Live Longer, Says Study
Recently, the House of Representatives passed a resolution honoring 80-year-old neurologist and prominent art enthusisast Dr. Joven Cuanang for his contributions not only in the medical science but also for the art world. Cuanang is known for his love of the arts, and apparently, that could also be a reason why he’s lived such a long life.
A recent study in the U.K. revealed that appreciating art and cultural activities can prolong our lives, as well as make it more enjoyable.
Researchers from University College London found that people who enjoy leisurely activities or engaged in art at least once or twice a year have a 14 percent less likelihood of dying prematurely than those who don’t. The study monitored a sample of 6,710 people aged 50 or older in a period of 12 years, according to a report by Daily Sabah.
According to the study’s authors, engaging in the arts could have a positive impact on people’s mental health and encourage more physical activity. So what are you waiting for? Visit a museum now!
