This Website Calculates When You'll Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine

It's been over a year since the COVID-19 outbreak, and the vaccine rollout is now underway in the country. Still, not everybody can get vaccinated immediately. The groups on top of the priority list are frontline workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

If you're not part of that group, you're probably wondering when you'll get the vaccine. The short answer? Months and months from now. The vagueness of it all isn't comforting but, thankfully, two Filipinos have created a vaccine queue calculator to help us all out.

Engineer Kenneth Alambra from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Reina Sagnip from the De La Salle University Manila developed the calculator as a way to answer many Filipinos' questions on who will be first in the queue, when are you likely to be offered the vaccine, and how far we are from the finish line.

"Coming into the year 2021, I think that most of us are wishing that the virus would just disappear, but in reality, it’s going to take time to get us all vaccinated. That was one of the major motivators for this calculator, giving people a realistic timeline and comfort knowing that the end is in sight even if it’s still months away," Alambra told the Philippine News Agency.

The calculator estimates vaccination rate using different criteria including age, occupation, comorbidities, financial stats, disabilities, and more. All you have to do is enter your data to find out when you'll get both doses of the vaccine. Check out the vaccine queue calculator below.

Aside from informing Filipinos about when they'll likely get the vaccine, Alambra hopes the tool will remind the public to continue protecting themselves. He also hopes it will provide comfort by offering a realistic timeline of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

"When we have realistic expectations it changes our behavior, and we need to keep the long game in mind. While the most vulnerable need to be protected immediately, we can’t let our guard down as a community until we get widespread herd immunity in order to protect each other, and we have a ways to go," he added.
