I Run an X-Rated Content House. My Family Doesn’t Know—and I Don’t Plan to Tell Them.

Content-creator houses are a lucrative corner of the porn industry, where a director will fly performers from across the country to a house for a weeklong period of collaboration. It’s porn filming on steroids, with performers shooting hours of film with multiple partners. Once they return home, content creators upload their videos to OnlyFans and ManyVids to monetize them. At a later date, the director sells all the content too.

For this edition of “Secret Lives of Men,” Esquire spoke to Jason, 43, who sold his Atlanta car wash to organize and film gang bangs at mansion-sized Airbnbs. While this may sound like every man’s dream, it’s not easy to wrangle two dozen porn stars and film 50 scenes in a handful of days. Jason organizes STI tests, keeps track of safe words, and distributes content—all while keeping his job a secret from his kids, mom, and friends.

I never expected to work in the adult industry. When I was growing up in Florida, porn wasn’t that easy to get. The DVDs cost $50 or $60 back then, so I’d get bootlegs instead. I was home alone a lot, so I had a lot of opportunities to watch. I thought porn was all real, and I thought it was all stimulating.

I became sexually precocious as I got older. I fathered two kids before I graduated high school. After graduating, I got a job driving trucks. I got married soon after for the wrong reason: I didn’t want to be alone. I knew the marriage wasn’t working, so a year later I initiated a divorce. Then I dated around and had another kid from a short relationship.

My work was going well, though. By the time I was in my 30s, I owned a handful of 18-wheelers and a car wash. But I was restless. I get tunnel vision for a while, and then I get antsy and want to move on to other things. I’m a Scorpio, so my attention span doesn’t last very long. Also, when you’re a trucker driver, you make money only when you’re driving, so I was always away from home, missing my kids.

In 2017, I noticed that there was an explosion of money in the porn business, thanks in part to OnlyFans lifting its ban on adult content. I was curious about how I could get a piece of it in Atlanta, because the industry seemed to be centralized in California. I started following adult performers on Twitter and DM’d one from the South named Mrs. Feedme, telling her I wanted to work in the industry. She was trying to make a name in porn too but couldn’t figure out how to break into it. She was dabbling with OnlyFans and did some shoots in Atlanta.

She told me she was filming at a hotel and invited me to go with her. One of the people she was filming with was a guy who calls himself Mr. Nuttz. He and two other guys run a business called Team VP that organizes content-creator houses in Atlanta. We traded numbers, and a month or so later the guys invited me to see their content house in action. I asked if I could bring Mrs. Feedme, and they said she could come and film but she had to be tested for STIs first.

We got to the house, and there were performers everywhere, filming according to a strict schedule set by the producers. I’m like, Oh my God, how did they pull it off? The Team VP guys said that if you keep a tight schedule, supply food, and make sure everyone’s tested for STIs, you’d be surprised how many people will show, no matter how far they have to travel.

I did notice a few things that could be improved. Through my previous experience running a business, I’ve learned that if people know what to do and what you expect of them, it’s easier to get things done. There were cliques among the performers. There were arguments if guys asked girls to film a scene with them and they were turned down. And the scheduling could use improvement; a lot of performers were sitting around, wondering what to do next. If I could make stricter schedules and rules, there’d be no fussing, arguments, or cliques.

About a year later, in 2018, I rented an Airbnb in Atlanta to host a content event, using savings I’d accumulated from my businesses. I paid this guy Rome Major, a well-known porn star from Los Angeles, to come to Atlanta, because I figured his name would get more people to come. It worked. I brought in cameramen and shot a lot of the film myself. The event went well, so I hosted more of them—mostly in Atlanta, sometimes in Texas or Florida.

Covid-19 was a big turning point for me. I held one of my popular March Madness parties—I was trying to be the second-most famous March Madness—on March 19, 2020, right before they shut the airports down. When everybody was quarantined, I was sitting on 150 scenes that I could sell on ManyVids, PornHub, and XVideos. Because everybody was sitting at home online, they bought my content, and I made a killing. I still had my car wash, but I soon shifted my focus more to porn. Unless you were Walmart, brick-and-mortar businesses struggled during Covid. Eventually, I sold the car wash.

My kids have no idea I do this work. Two are grown and in their 20s, but one is still in high school. They assume that I’m just driving trucks now since I drove for so long. Their moms don’t know what I do for work either.

Here’s how a content house works: I invest around $10,000 to $15,000 in the events, which run five to ten days. Before I rent the house, I make a list of around 50 people I want to work with. I need at least 20 to 25 people, and I always want more guys than girls because guys can’t film as many scenes, since they need downtime after having an orgasm.

I have to make sure I don’t invite anybody who is blackballed. You can kill your whole company by messing with someone that’s canceled. Sometimes there are tough calls. A girl may say a guy was too aggressive, but he might have filmed with 15 other girls who don’t agree. So I have to ask myself, Do I take the word of the one, or do I go with the 15?

I start contacting the women I know first to see if they’re interested and what their schedules are like. I try to consider their day jobs or their kids’ school schedule. Then I rent the house. Usually they’re huge, with six to eight bedrooms and five king-size beds. Performers who come from out of town get to stay there; people who live in town go home at night.

People think it’s a free-for-all, that people are just having sex all over the place, but that’s not how it is. Performers have to be tested for STIs seven days prior. I don’t even give the address out until I receive everybody’s test results. I ask performers who they don’t want to shoot with, then I make the schedule for each person.

I schedule five scenes in every two-hour block, giving men at least two hours between sessions to recover. For men to orgasm in porn isn’t easy, because the scene stops and starts so many times. A female scene partner’s hair might get messed up, and then she’ll say “cut” to fix her hair or her makeup, and the man has to keep his penis hard while she’s doing that. Industry veterans will sometimes inject their dicks with a shot of Tri-Mix, a prescription erection med, to make themselves hard, which can last for ten hours.

Most of the scenes start with the structure of a basic scene flow: blowjob, missionary, cowgirl, doggy style, finishing shot. It can take two hours to shoot and usually gets edited initially to a 20 to 25 minute video. Adding on extras like anal or a guy going down on a girl takes more time. The masterful part is the editing. Once you break shoots down into five- or ten-minute clips, you can sell them everywhere.

The shooting starts after breakfast, which I supply along with lunch and dinner. Sometimes I cater if I have the money. Other times, I buy food and bring in a house mom named Cinnamon to help with cooking. She’s a voyeur who likes to watch and helps with hair and makeup too. We always have food that’s not heavy. You don’t want performers feeling sluggish when shooting porn. Sometimes they won’t eat, like if they have an anal scene coming up.

Not everyone can shoot on camera. Some guys won’t get hard if there are production people in the room, which is why the male performers are the divas in the porn world. Even when you do find a guy who is reliable, he doesn’t want to do everything. Most guys don’t like double penetration or double blowjobs. Women are less likely to be divas—especially if they’re in it for the money. I, too, am only in it for the money. It’s porn. It’s always going to hit.

The content filmed from one shoot can earn me $50,000 to $100,000, but I don’t make the money immediately. Performers take their content home on hard drives and start monetizing it immediately on their personal OnlyFans and ManyVids accounts. They have exclusivity for several months before I can start posting it on my own channels, which include 20 different porn sites. After that, I earn revenue on the videos for life.

My family life has improved, although my actual family has no idea that porn is the reason. I’m more present in my kids’ lives, more stable now than I was when I was trucking. I do have to keep the job a secret from my family, but it’s not too hard to hide. Nobody really asks me what I do. They just assume that I drive trucks because I still have a commercial driver’s license and own a few. Most of my family lives in Florida, so it’s easier to keep my life a secret because they can’t see the day-to-day.

I’m not in a relationship myself. I’m just single, and I like to do what I want to. Especially in this line of work, it’s hard to get a partner unless you get someone that’s already in the business, and I’ve never dated anyone in the industry. Your reputation will tank if you do. If you’re a producer, you want to be known for having great relationships with talent—no messy stuff.

I’ve told some of my friends who I thought were open-minded about my job. But I learned that more often than not, they see you in a different kind of way when they learn you’re in the industry—or they just want you to introduce them to porn stars.

It’s just a job for me, but my view of what is normal has shifted. A girl doing triple anal, like three dicks in her ass at the same time—that might seem crazy to a lot of people. I’ve seen it enough times that it’s just another day.
