Jim Bacarro Opens Up About Overcoming His Difficult Path to Fatherhood
Earlier this year, 29-year-old singer Saab Magalona and her husband Jim Bacarro were forced to endure the unthinkable. On February 8, they lost Luna, one of their newborn twins, whose brother Pancho was also in critical condition. Magalona revealed the tragic story nearly a month thereafter, in a heart-wrenching but still optimistic blog post.
Since then, Pancho has been released from the intensive care unit, and thankfully, Magalona's Instagram posts have shown a healthy baby boy.
This morning, Bacarro revealed his own account of the tragedy, in his first Instagram post since January. He talked about what he's learned since then—about faith, about forgiveness, and about the meaning of fatherhood.

"My path to fatherhood wasn’t the most conventional," he began. "We spent more than 2 months in the hospital. After losing our daughter Luna, I didn’t even have time to grieve."
He admitted that the harrowing experience was a test of his faith. "For so long I wondered where God is in all of this: in tragedy, evil and suffering." But he would ultimately overcome his difficult path to fatherhood with the help of his loved ones.
The entire note is as painful as it is inspiring to read—a story that any father, regardless of circumstance, should be able to appreciate and learn from. So dads, hug your wife and kids tonight, and remember how lucky you are to have them.
