This Is Why Nipples Get Hard

Today in useless but interesting knowledge: Scientists recently discovered how nipples get hard, because scientists are horny AF.

Your sympathetic nervous system is vastly complex, and it is responsible for increasing your heart rate and blood pressure, as often happens when you are excited or stressed. In that complicated system in mice, scientists found cells that are solely responsible for making nipples hard and raising goosebumps on the skin—two relatively useless bodily reactions, in other words, and ones we don't consciously control, but ones with a lot of neurology dedicated to them.

When activated by adrenaline, the neurons cause the skin to contract, making the nipples erect—and also making hair stand on end. The process is completely involuntary for us, but we do often associate it with sexual arousal.

The more you know.
