At SEA Games Opening Ceremony, Francis M's Classic Songs Will Come Alive

At the ‘Sigla’ segment at the Southeast Asian Games opening ceremony, Elmo Magalona, son of the late Francis M, will perform the rapper’s hit “Mga Kababayan Ko”.
He will be joined on stage by KZ Tandingan and Iñigo Pascual.
“This entire segment will be choreographed by Dexter Santos and his associates. We have hip hop dancers from UPeepz, VPeepz, and the FEU pep squad,” explained the show’s creative director Floy Quintos at a press conference last week. He said that the dancers will be accompanying the three singers as they perform “three of the most iconic Francis Magalona songs.”
Quintos said that Pascual will perform “Man From Manila,” while Tandingan will belt out her version of “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy.”
Of the entire ‘Sigla’ segment, Quintos said, “We want to show [the audience] our very vibrant contemporary culture.”
It will follow the opening suite, ‘Ugat ng Ating Lakas’, which Quintos says will show that “the roots of our competitiveness, the roots of our strength, our unity as a nation, lies in our indigenous people.”
Dexter Santos is the choreographer of the hit musical “Huling El Bimbo”, based on songs of the Eraserheads. The Upeepz and Vpeepz are dance groups based in UP Diliman.
The segment will also feature performances by Robert Sena, Ana Fegi, Christian Bautista, Aicelle Santos, Jed Madela, the TNT Boys, and of course, a performance from headliner Apl de Ap.
