Team Philippines For the Win: Nesthy Petecio Guaranteed a Silver Medal After Beating Italy in Semifinals

Filipino boxing Olympian Nesthy Petecio is on to the finals!
The 29-year-old athlete has now secured herself at least a silver medal after beating Italy's Irma Testa in the women's featherweight semifinals match for bronze. It was a heated match between 5'2" Petecio and 5'8" Testa, ending with the Philippines' triumph over Italy.
Nesthy erupted into tears after her victory.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is Nesthy's Olympic debut.
This is the Philippines' second medal in the Tokyo games after Hidilyn Diaz won the country's first-ever Olympic gold medal in a historic victory for the Philippines.
Before becoming an Olympic medalist, Nesthy bagged gold in the featherweight competition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in 2019.
She also came in first place in the featherweight categories of the Thailand International Boxing Tournament 2019, Southeast Asian Games of 2019, and the International Feliks Stamm Tournament 2018.
