Filipino fight fans can now rejoice as they can now watch live UFC numbered cards, Fight Nights, and previous events via Disney+, easing the barrier to entry for fans who had to resort to dubious and dangerous streaming links to watch their favorite fighters.
The UFC earlier this year entered into a multi-year broadcast agreement with Paramount, which made it harder for combat sports fanatics to access these events since the streaming service isn't available in the Philippines.
These fights will be made available on ESPN and on Disney+, which starts this October.
This past weekend saw the first of these cards live on this platform, with UFC middleweight contenders Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan headlining a Fight Night on Oct. 11.
With UFC champions like Sean Strickland, Justin Gaethje, and other contenders likely to fight at the end of the year even amid contract controversy and pay negotiation issues, UFC on Disney+ just made it in the nick of time for us hungry fight fans.
Next week on Oct 18, UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley (who is most known for that insane jumping spinning back kick in 2020) and established Canadian Mike Malott square off in a match-up with rank movement implications in the stacked 170 pound division.
The later end of the month on Oct 25 will see two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander "The Great" Volkanovski (better known as just Volk and the guy who cooks on YouTube) face undefeated grappling phenom Movsar Evloev, in a matchup that could further cement Volk's status as the featherweight GOAT.
The Arena

Staying on the discourse of compelling mixed martial arts content on streaming, the Netflix side of things features a new French competition reality series that sees MMA giants UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane and lightweight contender Benoît Saint Denis, and former Glory kickboxing champion and PFL star Cédric Doumbè coach amateur fighters who compete for a cash prize of €100,000 and a professional MMA contract with ARES.
The Arena has 38 amateur fighters (19 men and 19 women) competing in a specialized fight camp that consists of endurance and striking trials designed by Gane.
UFC legend and former two-division world champion George St-Pierre also stepped in as a guest mentor to prepare the fighters for a brutal semifinal round that saw them fight in front of a live crowd. The show's finale is set to take place on Oct. 15.
Think of this as an alternative to the established but rather stagnant The Ultimate Fighter, but with refreshing cinematic courses.
