1| EDSA, Metro Manila

Take advantage of the holidays to cruise along this long highway. Sometimes closed for annual bike events like the Tour of the Fireflies, a ride through EDSA can be calming and picturesque, especially when there are no drivers honking at you to speed along and move to the side.

2| Iloilo and Guimaras

There are daily flights from Metro Manila to Iloilo International Airport. You can bike around Esplanade, Iloilo City's riverwalk, which stretches 1.2 km on both sides of the Iloilo River in Mandurriao District.

Take a side trip: Cross the channel and ride the rolling hills of Guimaras.

3| Malabon, Metro Manila

You reach this side of the Metro by either bus or car. Most people get around using bikes from the many surplus bike shops around the city. Interesting to note are pedicabs equipped with larger wheels to navigate through the city's famous floods.

4| Quezon City Circle

A staple among cyclists in Metro Manila, you can ride to QC Circle via Commonwealth Avenue if you're from the north or EDSA or C5 if you're from the south. One loop is 1.9 km. Informal races or Criteriums as they are known are held every Sunday morning.

5| Vigan, Ilocos Sur

For Vigan, you can take either a plane or a 10-hour bus ride. You also have the choice of bringing your own bike or renting from Hotel Felicidad.

6| Rizal

A popular, and challenging, route for those who want to go for long and hilly rides, go up Sierra Madre through Marcos Highway, or to Laguna through Sumulong Highway and the Manila East Road. You can also do 100 km loop connecting the two highways! Start from Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City and choose your path once you get at Masinag, Marikina.
