Working remotely is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you get to skip all the city's bumper-to-bumper traffic. On the other hand, the arrangement leads to longer working hours which is more harmful than we think.
One way to make the situation better is to pick a great place to work from. During the start of the pandemic, several destinations invited remote works due to a lack of tourism—and it seems the travel packages are here to stay. The question is where to go... that's where French travel and tourism operator Club Med comes in.
In its digital nomad index, Club Med put together the best places for working remotely based on cost of living, safety, average internet speed, and, of course, the scenery. Check out the top 10 countries for remote workers below.
- Thailand
- Sri Lanka
- Singapore
- Cambodia
- Maldives
- Indonesia
- Malaysia
- Brazil
- India
- Mexico
The index named Thailand the best country for remote workers with two cities being seen as the ideal destinations: Phuket and Krabi Province. Interestingly, a total of seven countries from the list's top 10 were located in South or Southeast Asia including Sri Lanka, Singapore, Cambodia, Maldives, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India.
The good news? Most of the places that scored high on the index happen to be tropical countries and island towns that are a dime a dozen in the Philippines. So, you really need not look further and opt to instead explore local destinations such as Palawan, Siargao, and more that offer remote work packages.
