The Time for Cheap Travel Is Not Over, According to Cebu Pacific
Adventure-seekers are itching to get out once the quarantine is over and unrestricted travel is back in place.
But they want to know, will airlines hike their fares in view of reduced seats for sale?
According to news, passenger planes may have to keep some seats empty if they were to follow the new normal of social distancing inlight.
And is this true? It's time to say goodbye to Cebu Pacific's Piso Fare promos?
Worry not, travel junkies. Cebu Pacific'sspokesperson Charo Logarta-Lagamon has assured that the Gokongwei-led budget airline will continue to provide low airfares.
Logarta-Lagamon said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo last Tuesday, April 28, "Mayroon namang ibang ways para ma-manage natin the cost of a flight.
"So hindi naman necessary na tataas ito [at] wala nang Piso Fare...
"Mandate na po ng Cebu Pacific mula noong magsimula ang airline 24 years ago, mandato na po na magbigay sa publiko ng abot-kaya at accessibile na pamasahe.
"So, hindi po mawawala iyong mga murang pamasahe.
"So 'wag muna tayong mangamba na wala nang Piso Fare kasi mandato na yan ng Cebu Pacific, saka there will always be room for budget fare."

NEW NORMAL IN CEBU PACIFIC
In the same interview, the spokesperson delineated how Cebu Pacific will implement the new normal in airline travel.
She said, "Pagbalik ng passenger commercial flights, kapag tayong lahat ay puwede nang lumipad, magkakaroon tayo ng new normal.
"Kasama po dyan, unang-una, mas magiging conscious tayong lahat, magkakaroon ng protocols on safety, on sanitation, on health."
According to Logarta-Lagamon, these include "pagdidisinfect at paglilinis ng aircrafts" in-between flights and upon parking in boneyards.
Passengers will be required to wear face masks "mula pagtungtong niyo sa airport hanggang pagbaba niyo sa pupuntahan niyo."
Meanwhile, their personnel will wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Logarta-Lagamon also hinted that online travel transactions may become the norm rather than an option, saying, "We will encourage na bawasan ang contact with the ground personnel para maintain pa rin tayo ng social and physical distancing.
"So we highly encourage, mag-check-in tayo using our website or sa app—online check-in para pipila nalang tayo para magdrop ng ating check-in baggage."

Logarta-Lagamon also explained in the interview that the news about reduced seats is still speculative at this point.
She said, "May mga reports na nilabas on the international side na sinasabi na magtataas ang pamasahe dahil, malamang sa hindi, ay hindi na ibebenta iyong middle seat o gitnang upuan sa eroplano.
"And kapag konti kasi ang nabebentang upuan, pag kunwari hindi na binebenta iyong middle seat, mas konting pasahero ang maghahati sa cost of mounting this flight, so pangamba nila ay tataas ang pamasahe.
"I think medyo speculative pa po iyan sa ngayon."
