Jose Mari Chan and George Yang’s Back-to-Back Flights Had This Flight Attendant Seeing Double
It was a normal flight for the Philippine Airlines cabin crew, until Jose Mari Chan stepped on board the PAL flight bound from Manila to Japan. There are high profile personalities, then there’s Jose Mari Chan—the Filipino father of Christmas, a title the social media universe has honored him with though the singer himself has said otherwise. It’s not often you encounter the Filipino equivalent to Santa Claus. At 74, JMC is still the soundtrack for the holidays in the Philippines.
Flight attendants are prepared for when high profile personalities come on board, but flight attendant Czarina Montenegro started seeing double when, on the same day during the returning flight from Japan to Manila, Jose Mari Chan returned to the same plane he’d flown on just a couple of hours ago.
But wait, no. It wasn’t JMC. It was George Yang, the chairman of McDonald’s Philippines and JMC’s long-time friend (and possibly long-lost twin?).
Remember the Grandparents Day McDonald’s advertisement where JMC and McDonald’s Big Cheese swapped lives for a few minutes? It warmed the hearts of everyone, and had us convinced the two were related (or separated at birth).
The chances of being on the same flight as Jose Mari Chan? Slim. The chances of being on the next flight, on the same plane, on the same day? Improbable. But it happened, and just a few months shy of Christmas no less.
Speaking of Christmas, time to get our JMC-only playlists ready.
