New Tourism Video Showcases Happy Moments in Reopened Boracay
With most of us homebound for the last eight months and counting, the Department of Tourism is inviting the public to consider traveling again. As long as we make sure to strictly follow the proper safety protocols.
The DOT campaign “Have a Safe Trip, Pinas” shot in the paradise that is Boracay shows how we can still enjoy a holiday when traveling amid the pandemic. Hotels, transport services, and other tourism operations have been implementing strict health and safety protocols to keep guests safe.
Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat feels a personal connection to the soundtrack of the campaign.
“I’ve always loved Basil Valdez’s song 'You.' When I got married, my husband Dave asked me to make a list of my wishes for the wedding," says Puyat. "He made every one of my wishes come true, save for getting Basil himself to sing it for the ceremony."
"It was still perfect and I was the happiest bride that day, but I have to admit that whenever I remember I can't help but have this song playing in my head,” she says of the song interpreted in a breezy, contemporary style by her friend Armi Millare, featuring bass by Rommel dela Cruz.
Puyat says that traveling in the new normal may be trickier because of masks, social distancing, and following safety protocols.
"But they can’t stop us from enjoying the sunset or sharing a special moment,” says Puyat. “They also can’t stop the heartfelt smiles coming from the faces of those whose livelihoods rely on tourism.”
