This Is What the New Normal Looks Like in Thailand

Thai dancers wearing face shields, touchless payments at malls, and armies of disinfectors spraying surfaces. This is how Thailand looks now. As the country slowly eases restrictions on businesses and tourists, a new normal takes hold. Thailand’s Safety and Health Administration has been implementing stringent measures to ensure the safety of locals and tourists in the country.
Thailand’s tourism industry accounts for up to 17 percent of the country’s GDP, which is why it is crucial for the country to implement strict measures so it can reopen to tourists. The Tourism Authority of Thailand gives SHA certificates to establishments that comply with their health guidelines.
Among these, all businesses are required to comply with a new registration system that keeps track of people who tested positive or are suspected of having COVID-19. The system automatically sends the information to the Ministry of Public Health for easy monitoring.
The following photos show how the new normal in Thailand looks now.
