Since the opening of the Megaworld Mactan township, it has driven a business component to the part of Cebu that is best known for its beaches. There are several office buildings in its Cyberpark, housing BPOs and other business investments, mixed with a residential component and a leisure center shaded by hundreds of mango trees.

As an answer to accommodations for business travellers who have a quick meeting or event to attend to in the area, Megaworld is set to open Savoy Hotel Mactan on November 12. The P1.7 Billion property is an 18-storey structure that will have 547 guest rooms and suites that are divided into four categories: superior and deluxe rooms, de luxe premier, and junior suites, all equipped with the essential amenities.  There is also a function hall that can accommodate about 120 pax when all three meeting rooms are combined.

After the meetings are done, guests can enjoy some leisure time, with amenities such as a pool, a fitness center, and even a flower garden. It is also only a few minutes away from Newtown’s concession-manned beach property where one can try water sports such as paddling, kayaking, or a banana boat ride to shake off that work-related stress. It is also only a few minutes away from the Mactan Shrine, where one can say ‘hi’ to Lapu-Lapu’s statue and go for pasalubong shopping at the nearby kiosks.

Mactan Newtown has al fresco dining with stalls serving seafood, sisig, and Cebu lechon, among others, but the hotel will also have five F&B outlets, and its restaurant will soon serve up a hearty breakfast, along with ala carte options that will feature a fusion of flavors and ingredients that Cebu is known for.  Among the chef’s creations are a very spicy Deconstructed Dumpling, inspired by the tisa siomai sold at roadstands, a Crispy Chicken Halang Halang Salad, a Carbonara featuring salted eggs and sea urchin, a Chicharon Crusted Squid, and a dessert inspired by the Cebuano snack staple Puto Maya.

The service quality is also capitalizing on the innate warmth of the Cebuano, set against the high-ceilinged interiors in calming colors designed by global firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, which also designed world-class hospitality structures such as Singapore’s Fullerton Hotel and Marina Bay Sands. “Savoy Hotel Mactan caters to smart travellers who appreciate the harmony between work and leisure. Our hoteliers are always ready to cater to guests’ needs, and this is seen by the circular designs that are prominent in our lobby, because we want to give service with continuity,” says General Manager Grace Bartolome.

Its locations allows our guests to experience the beach and township at the same time, with its restaurants and cafes, supermarket, spa, and retails shops within reach.”

As an opening treat, the hotel is offering special rates from November 12 up to December, with rooms and breakfast buffet for two starting at P3,288.
