This Luxury Cruise Sets Sail From Manila and Across Southeast Asia

Luxury cruises gained more ground in the Philippines when the Asia Pacific cruise line Star Cruises started making pit stops in Manila, Laoag, Boracay, and Palawan in 2017 and 2018. But with the COVID-19 pandemic hugely affecting the global tourism industry in 2020, cruises in Asia had to make a full stop as well—until recently. Norwegian Cruise Line is making its Southeast Asian comeback with voyages passing through Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines in the third quarter of 2023.
Current itineraries include an 11-day cruise from November 30 to December 11 with the vessel Norwegian Jewel departing the port of Manila. The point of disembarkation is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Rates start at U.S. $1,299 (roughly P71,000).

The same vessel also has a 10-day cruise from November 20 to 30, starting from Bangkok and ending in Manila; a 12-day cruise from October 30 to November 11, from Taipei to Singapore; and an 11-day cruise from February 18 to February 29, 2024, starting from Bangkok and ending in Taipei.

With more time spent at sea, the Norwegian Jewel hopes to make the Asian cruise more fun through onboard shows—from acrobatics courtesy of Le Cirque Bijou to comedy nights; on-deck facilities like swimming pools and hot tubs; and a variety of shopping stalls and dining outlets.
