Join This Spooky Tour of Intramuros Without Leaving Your Home
“If the walls of Intramuros could speak, imagine the stories they could tell,” said Benjamin Canapi of WanderManila.
Canapi’s One Night in Intramuros is a special Halloween online tour of the Walled City happening on October 30.
Halloween Tour With a Spice of History
According to Canapi, the virtual Halloween tour of Intramuros will feature key sites that are paranormal hotspots.
“I toured many sites in Intramuros with a friend who is ‘sensitive,’ meaning to say he can see or feel things we cannot see,” Canapi told Esquire Philippines.
Based on the most active sites for these paranormal activities, Canapi sought the help of the Intramuros Administration to dig deeper into the histories of the sites and what occurred there. What he discovered was chilling.
Inside the Fort Santiago Dungeon
“There were tales of intrigue, of passion and jealousy, of violence, and death, especially during the Battle of Manila in World War II when a lot of atrocities happened.”
Intramuros, especially the ruins of Fort Santiago, are hallowed grounds and the site of thousands of deaths during World War II. Scores of anecdotes from residents tell haunting experiences of hearing screams coming from the dungeons in the middle of the night.
Aduana Building in Intramuros
Aside from Fort Santiago, other places of interest in the One Night in Intramuros tour are the hauntings at Manila Cathedral, the Aduana Building in front of BPI, and the San Agustin Church, among others.
