She graduated with two degrees—Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)— from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Medicine and Public Health at a virtual conferment ceremony earlier this week.

Her beaming mother talked about the achievement in a Facebook post.

“It was a very important milestone for all of us because we saw how Tricia defied all odds to reach this point,” said Leni Robredo, who called herself “the videographer” for the happy occasion. Tricia's sisters, Aika and Jillian, took photos.

Since it was a work day, the family attended the virtual ceremony at the Office of the Vice President, where Aika also works as a volunteer.

Tricia said finishing the program still feels quite surreal, as she recalls tough times in the earlier years. “At the time, hanggang pangarap lang makapag graduate. But here we are,” she says.

The next step after graduating from medical school is usually going into a residency program, but Tricia says she is open to other paths.

“ASMPH exposed us to many other possibilities, such as public health, research, and policy,” she says.  “Although I’m still highly considering going to further training (am inclined to do pediatrics or ENT for now), I’m also open to pursuing other tracks.”
