Someone Wrote 'Trump' on the Back of a Dugong in Florida
Much of Florida is notoriously pro-Trump. It is no coincidence that disgraced President Donald Trump will decamp to the Sunshine State after he leaves the White House on January 20. His supporters there are so stoked, they decided to carve “TRUMP” on the back of a defenseless dugong.
A dugong or manatee from Florida became the most recent victim of the highly charged political atmosphere in America. The dugong was discovered asleep in shallow waters just days before Donald Trump is scheduled to vacate the White House.
Federal officials from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are now investigating the crime. According to them, the dugong did not suffer serious injuries, and it seems the word was written on algae growing on the manatee’s back.
Meanwhile, the Center of Biological Diversity is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the conviction of the person who harassed the creature. Manatees are protected under the Endangered Species Act of 1963 of the U.S.
Marine conservators discourage physical interaction between humans and endangered marine animals such as manatees and whale sharks because a tiny scratch on their skin can lead to infection and death.
