Gamers, rejoice. Even more investments are flowing into the esports industry.

Homegrown gaming hub Mineski Global just bagged a $10.6 million (equivalent to about P528 million) investment in its Series A funding round. The venture capital and investment firms that participated in the round were Endeavor Catalyst and Exacta Capital Partners, and the deal was facilitated by Rocket Equities.

What started out as a simple college Dota team in 2004 is now an international enterprise with interests in various gaming-related fields. Mineski Global is made up of around 200 employees and has offices throughout Southeast Asia. Mineski, which operates fully in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand, now has a presence in Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Cambodia. It has also expanded to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, and India, and plans to expand further with the new investment.

With the new funding, Mineski Global will focus on developing its gamification technology, introducing new products, growing its team, and investing in its core businesses.

Mineski has brand partnerships with global brands such as Moonton, Tencent, Riot, Globe Telecom, Gameloft, Oppo, Acer, Plan B and Oreo.

“With the tremendous growth of esports and gaming, we believe this is the right time to invest in that future. As we evolve and continue to disrupt the esports and gaming industry, we’re unlocking opportunities for brands and gamers alike, defining new ways of engagement and entertainment,” said the founder, chairman, and CEO of Mineski Global Ronald Robins.

Robins, who is a veteran in the Philippine gaming scene, started Mineski with his college Dota team. His homegrown company is now a champion of esports leagues, platforms, and content in Southeast Asia.
