What are cloud kitchens?
Cloud kitchens are a growing concept in which brands operate purely online with no dine-in option. They rent a space for food production and then sell sell their products via aggregators, like foodpanda. The concept is essentially 100 percent back-of-the-house with no front-of-the-house, whatsoever. Pre-pandemic, the concept might have been strange, but in an era where dining in can pose a danger to your health due to COVID-19, it’s being touted as an innovative solution that can help keep the food industry thriving despite the challenges. It’s one way food brands can save costs and earn higher profits even with a pandemic at their door.
“Cloud kitchens are growing pretty quickly around the world, and there’s many types of cloud kitchens that aim to accomplish different things. Our version of the model enables brands to get online easier, whether they are new or existing concepts, and save costs while maximizing their digital footprint, or their ‘foodprint’ as we like to say”, Victor Seunglee Lim, co-founder of Kraver’s Canteen. “We’re thrilled to be getting Maisen live, and look forward to exploring future collaborations in the months ahead.”
Launched in 2020, Kraver’s Canteen is one of the more popular cloud kitchens operating in the Philippines, and it also has a number of well-known brands in its roster, such as Tiger Sugar, Kyoto Sushi Bake, Burger Jack, El Nacho Libre, Yogost, Sheikh’s Kebab, Black Kimchi, and much more.
Bench Food Group will now join the Kraver’s network via Maisen. Its other popular food brands include Marugume, Bench Café, St. Marc Café, and more.
“This is our first venture with the cloud kitchen concept and I am very positive that we can now reach some untapped market in more areas in search of quality and authentic Japanese food,” said Erwin Lee, General Manager of Bench Food Group.
