Businessman Jerry Angping Dies

Businessman Jerry Angping passed away on Saturday, April 3, a text message attributed to a family member said. He was 66 years old. 

Angping is well known in local business circles, particularly in the investing community. In 1989, he put up AP Securities, which was formerly known as Angping & Associates. It has since become one of the country’s top brokerage firms.

Angping graduated with a Broadcast Communication degree from University of the Philippines in Diliman in 1975 and went on to pursue his MBA from Harvard University, which he completed in 1982. He has served as an officer and director in numerous listed and non-listed companies over the years, including mining companies like Nihao Mineral Resources, Geograce Resources, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co., as well as companies in other industries like STI Education Inc., Lodestar Investment Holdings Corp., and many others.

“Jerry has received multiple awards during his post U.P. and Harvard days and continues his involvement in social responsibility projects by donating several school buildings and sponsored hundreds of scholars in the last 15 years through his Angping Development Foundation for Education,” according to his profile in Speed Money Transfer Japan KK, a money transfer company for which he also served as director.
