Cathay Pacific is permanently closing its ticketing offices in Manila and Cebu starting September 1, 2021. The Hong Kong-based airline said its ticketing office at the 20th floor of the LKG Towers along Ayala Avenue in Makati City and at the 12th floor of the Ayala Life FGU Center along Mindanao Avenue at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City will be shuttered.

The announcement was made in the airline’s Facebook page on Wednesday (August 25).

Cathay Pacific said ticketing transactions and inquiries may be coursed through its Global Contact Centers. Passengers can also contact the airline through Facebook Messenger. An emailed message obtained by Esquire Philippines said passengers can also get in touch with their respective travel agencies.

The airline first announced that it was temporarily closing its ticketing office in Manila and Cebu last July 26. That closure has now become permanent.

The company reported losses of $2.8 billion for 2020, a steep drop from profits of $220 million in 2019.

The travel sector has been one of the worst-hit industries during the pandemic.

“Market conditions remain challenging and dynamic,” Cathay Pacific chairman Patrick Healy said in the company's 2020 earnings report released last March. “It is by no means clear how the pandemic and its impact will develop over the coming months.

“Our short-term outlook continues to be challenging,” he added. “However, we remain absolutely confident in the long-term future and competitive position of our airlines.”
