Comic Quest—an institution in local comic book retail and general geekery—is closing down permanently. In a post on its Facebook page, the comic book and hobby shop that was founded in 1986 said the twin pressures of the coronavirus pandemic and disruption of the global distribution of comic books force them to make the difficult decision.

“It is and has been an extremely challenging time for us, and we feel that this is our best option moving forward,” the company said.

Comic Quest started with a lone store in BF Homes in Parañaque and soon expanded to multiple branches across Metri Manila and one in Cebu. Today it counts three branches in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa and Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

“We want to thank each and every one of you for being one of our valuable loyal customers and a very important member of the Comic Quest family. We wouldn't have reached 35 wonderful years in business without loyal customers like you. Our sincerest and most heartfelt thanks for being with us through all these years.”

The comic book store is holding a special Farewell Sale from today, September 16 to October where all items in its SM Megamall Store will be sold at 50 percent off and more.
