Gojek Executive Joins Kumu as Chief Product Officer

An executive from one of Indonesia’s top startups is joining the Filipino livestreaming startup Kumu. Crystal Widjaja, former chief of staff and SVP of growth at Gojek, has just been appointed chief product officer at Kumu, one of the top startups in the Philippines.
At Gojek, Widjaja helped grow the superapp from a Series B startup to a decacorn, a company now valued at over $10 billion. While SVP of growth and business intelligence, Widjaja and her team were instrumental in growing Gojek’s order demand from 30,000 to over five million orders per day.
Widjaja is also an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Silicon Valley growth school Reforge.
Now at Kumu, Widjaja will help the company achieve its goal of being the “largest participatory social network in the world.” Kumu is one of the top apps in the country with over eight million downloads across 100 countries. Kumu has also built its own community dubbed the “Kumunnity” that boasts over 1,000 full-time streamers.
Widjaja is the latest senior addition to Kumu as the startup has been welcoming more industry leaders into its ranks in recent months. In May, Kumu appointed Alex Tshering as chief growth officer. Tshering was formerly the SVP of FIGS, a $5 billion apparel brand that recently went public on the New York Stock Exchange. In April, Kumu welcomed Mark Velasquez as CFO after he left his role as director at ING Philippines and VP at Credit Suisse.
“With this new wave of world-class leaders, we believe we can build a product and company that raises the bar not just in the Philippines, not just on the region, but the entire global community,” said Rexy Dorado, co-founder and president of Kumu.
