With a total of 240 votes in favor of the franchise versus seven votes against it, the House was quick to grant a franchise to Dito Telecommunity after the third reading of House Bill 7332.
The bill was filed on June 6, and managed to secure a franchise in only 11 weeks.
The telco is expected to roll out by March 2021.
Dito is the third telco of the country, breaking the former duopoly between Ayala-led Globe and PLDT’s Smart.
Dito is a consortium between two Dennis Uy companies (Udenna Corp. and Chelsea Logistics Corp.) and China Telecom, a state-owned telco from China.
