Filipinos Enjoy Convenience When It Comes to Online Shopping, According to Study
Online shopping had been on the rise in the Philippines before the coronavirus pandemic hit. While we still have a long way to go until digital becomes the norm, there's no doubt that most Filipinos were fast-tracked into e-commerce.
As it continues to grow, there's still a lot we have to learn about Filipino consumers' behavior. To shines a light on the phenomenon, Facebook's Emerging Trends Research reveals Filipinos' willingness to pay for products, services, and more to save time. About 12,500 participants from 14 countries, including the Philippines, were surveyed for the study.
The survey showed that 87 percent of respondents were willing to pay more for convenience, citing different methods of mobile payment and new trends in e-commerce like live selling. The rising Facebook trend incorporates an auction-style structure that uses the live feature for real-time shopping.
One in four people were found to browse live selling broadcast videos on social media. While at least 85 percent said that their live shopping purchases would increase this year.
"Research tells us that we should draw inspiration from the fact that for most consumers, the best journey is no journey at all," said Facebook Philippines country director John Rubio. "And by putting your customer first, you can eliminate friction, inspire discovery, and maybe even set a new standard in convenience."
