Grab Philippines Teams Up With Cloud Kitchen Startup Kraver's Canteen to Support Local Food Brands

Two players in the Philippines’ cloud kitchen scene are teaming up. Grab Philippines, through its cloud kitchen arm GrabKitchen, is partnering with local cloud kitchen startup Kraver’s Canteen to set up even more GrabKitchen facilities in the metro to support food brands and restaurants.

The first facility built through this partnership is the recently launched GrabKitchen branch in Paranaque. Through the collaboration, Grab will lead all digital and customer-facing tasks, such as marketing through the Grab superapp, while Kraver’s will focus on managing the backend operations, namely everything that will happen in the kitchens.

Cloud kitchens are a growing concept in the Philippines that support food brands through its delivery-only system, which saves costs otherwise spent on front-of-the-house expenses. Cloud kitchens house more than one brand in its shared cooking facility, so customers can order from more than one brand while paying only a single delivery fee. You can find all of these brands by searching for a GrabKitchen near you on the Grab app.

“We believe that cloud kitchens help brands and restaurants better reach and serve their consumers, while easing the financial pain points of setting up and running physical store fronts,” said GrabKitchen Philippine project lead Josephine Kamiyama. “The strategic alliance between Grab Philippines and Kraver’s Canteen is quite timely as we find ways to better serve communities.”

Cloud kitchens have been increasingly embraced during the pandemic as this new industry offers an innovative way to keep restaurants afloat in the face of quarantine restrictions. One of GrabKitchen’s partner-restaurants, Dapo at Tisa, experienced an increase in demand after joining the platform and now deliveries make up 80 percent of its revenue.
