This Guy Is Selling A Date for P5,000 on Lazada

This story has been updated with a statement from Lazada Philippines.
The phrase “you can get anything on the internet” has never rung more true as it does today. On Lazada, for instance, you can even buy a car.

But one thing we never expected on one of the country’s top ecommerce platforms is guys selling themselves for dates, and that’s exactly what we found.

A few things stick out in this real post we found on Lazada. First, the gentleman’s ad is under the category Mobiles & Tablets and the sub-category Smartphones. Which is strange because, well, unless Samsung has invented a new mobile phone that looks like a man that they haven’t told the world yet, we’re going to assume Mr. Chinito is an actual human being and he deliberately posted his ad under one of the most popular subcategories on the site.
Second, the delivery fee is rather steep at P2,624. We wonder if he’ll actually be delivered in a box to your doorstep.

And third, since when has Lazada become a dating site? There are lots of other places on the internet you can go to if you’re looking for, um, companionship, but Lazada deals exclusively with inanimate objects. Or so we thought.

We reached out to the local Lazada office for a reaction and this is what they have to say: "Lazada sellers are required upon registration to agree and adhere to our Lazada Seller Agreement, which incudes policies on products and services that may be listed and offered.
Lazada continuously monitors the platform and necessary actions will be taken against sellers who fail to comply with said policies."
