Jollibee Is Investing P3.3 Billion to Open 50 More Stores in Europe

It's part of JFC's European expansion plan.

Jollibee's expansion plan continues. Undeterred by the pandemic, JFC reveals its plans to open 50 more stores in Europe within the next five years. The company will be investing £50 million (P3.36 billion) in its European expansion, in line with its goal to be a major player in the European fast-food industry. According to JFC, its local U.K. customer base has grown to 70 percent as the brand gains ground with the non-Filipino population in Great Britain.

JFC is already expanding its European market with plans to open new stores in Edinburgh in Scotland, Cardiff in Wales, and Madrid in Spain. This year will also herald the restaurant chain's European flagship location in Leicester Square, London. These new openings ride on the back of JFC's successful openings in Rome, Liverpool, and Leicester City in 2020.

In a previous statement from Jollibee, CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong announced the conglomerate's intentions to go international, with hopes that 2021 will be the year international markets will drive profit and sales growth more than the Philippine market. Jollibee opened more stores abroad than at home in 2020, and it looks like this trend will continue as JFC plans to open roughly 450 new stores in 2021, with a majority of these locations abroad.

Adapting to the new normal, JFC's European stores will feature contactless kiosks and pick-up settings. Jollibee U.K. will be launching a delivery app by the end of the month to boost sales. It's also launching a number of menu items exclusive for the European market, such as Asian Slaw, Tropical Burger, Mango Coconut Sundae, and Asian Chicken Tender Rice Bowl.

In preparation for dining post-COVID, Jollibee's new stores will feature a refreshed store design that will showcase Filipino heritage to international audiences. Check out the design for JFC's European market below:
