Jollibee Is Heading to New York's Grand Central Terminal

Jollibee’s quest for world domination continues with a new branch being planned in New York City in the U.S. According to Commercial Observer, which quoted a report by the company’s broker in the city CBRE, the fast-food giant’s fourth location in the city will open at 14 East 42nd Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenue.

The new location measures 3,454 square feet and is just a peach-mango pie’s throw away from Grand Central Terminal, one of New York's busiest train stations and a major city landmark.

“We had been looking for the ideal Jollibee location within the Grand Central vicinity prior to the pandemic and are incredibly excited to have found what we believe will be the perfect site for a successful new restaurant,” Commercial Observer quoted CBRE’s Henry Rossignol as saying in a statement. Rossignol and colleague Anthony Stanford brokered the deal for Jollibee.

Meanwhile, a representative for Jollibee said the new branch fits with the company’s plan to roll out more new stores in the U.S.

“As Jollibee works to establish 500 stores across North America within the next five to seven years, increasing our presence throughout New York City represents a critical component of our U.S. expansion goals,” Maribeth Dela Cruz, business group head of Honeybee Foods Corporation, which operates Jollibee’s U.S. operations, said in a statement. “The proximity of this space to Grand Central Terminal offers an incredible opportunity to grow brand awareness among a much broader and diverse audience.”

Jollibee first opened a branch in New York in Woodside, Queens in 2009 and opened another one along Eighth Avenue near Times Square in Manhattan in 2018. Last year, the company announced that it has signed a lease for a new two-storey flagship location on 1500 Broadway, which is right on Times Square.

According to Jollibee Foods Corporation, the brand’s parent company, there are over 30 Jollibee stores in the U.S. located in the following states: California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

At about the same time as news broke about the Grand Central branch, Jollibee also announced that it will also soon open another location in Dallas, Texas. A report in the Dallas Morning News said that the company announced that it will soon have a branch along Greenville Avenue in East Dallas, which will open in late 2022. Jollibee first opened a branch in Plano, Texas in 2020.

JFC is in a serious expansion phase, opening new stores in various locations across the globe at a rapid clip. According to JFC president Ernesto Tanmantiong, it’s all part of their goal of becoming one of the top five restaurant companies in the world. So far, JFC is at number 13 in the global list of restaurant companies with the most number of locations.

Jollibee’s Grand Central branch is expected to open by the end of 2023.
