Hundreds Line Up for the Opening of Jollibee's West End Store in London

Some arrived as early as 3 a.m.

Approximately 300 customers lined up to await the opening of Jollibee's highly anticipated West End store in the heart of London on May 22, 2021. Some arrived as early as 3 a.m., willing to wait seven hours in the cold just for a taste of Chickenjoy.

Over 4,000 pieces of Chickenjoy were sold on the first day alone.

The West End branch is Jollibee's newest European flagship restaurant, and its opening was timed to coincide with the first week Londoners are allowed to dine inside during the pandemic.

Jollibee is now open in four cities across the U.K.: London, Liverpool, Leeds, and Leicester. Six more stores are scheduled for opening in the U.K. this year.

"We look forward to continuously expanding our brand footprint in UK’s GBP 1.2 billion fried chicken market as we open more stores in the country and the rest of Europe," said Ernesto Tanmantiong, CEO of Jollibee Group.

Jollibee Food Group plans to open 50 more stores across Europe within the next five years, in line with pivot from being a Filipino brand to an international brand. JFC aims to be one of the top five restaurant companies in the world.
