A New 'All-In-One' Roadside Assistance App is Coming from Manny Pangilinan's MPTC
A new mobile app that promises mobility solutions for motorists has been launched ahead of the expected resurgence of travel. Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is introducing MPT DriveHub, a mobile app that offers a host of features that aims to encourage more people to travel and help people on the road.
Executives of the company described MPT DriveHub as an “all-in-one app” for improved mobility, including digital tools that allow motorists to manage their RFID accounts, plan their trips, and ask for roadside assistance. The app also helps motorists calculate their toll fees and top up their RFID accounts; check the nearest pitstops for dining, gas-ups, and bathroom breaks; and also houses an in-app function for emergencies.
During the app’s virtual launch on Thursday (February 24), MPTC President Rodrigo E. Franco said the app is being launched just as restrictions are being eased and expressway traffic is expected to rebound this year. The company says it expects traffic volume to increase by 10 percent this year and that traffic volume in February alone is already exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
“If there are no travel restrictions, we expect traffic to be higher than 2019 already,” Franco said.
The MPT DriveHub app will be available for download for iOS and Android users starting March 1 for RFID users of MPTC’s network of expressways, which includes, North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). Officials added it will soon be available for motorists using the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
“This is just the beginning for MPT DriveHub,” said MPT Mobility Vice President for Business Development Mark Richmund M. De Leon. "We are actively developing the app to introduce more services in the future such as e-wallets, motorists’ marketplace, and electric vehicle charging locator map to equip our motorists with more solutions that will further enhance and delight their journeys.”
