Construction of a section of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will commence in June 2021, NLEX Corp., which manages the toll road, said.
NLEX Corp company president Luigi Bautista said the three-kilometer elevated portion of the expressway spans the España Interchange and the vicinity of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The Connector Road is an eight-kilometer elevated four-lane toll expressway that will extend the NLEX southward from the end of Segment 10 in C3 Road Caloocan City to PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila. It will link to the Skyway Stage 3 includes two interchanges located at C3 Road/5th Avenue, Caloocan and España, Manila.
“We are doing everything we can to accelerate the completion of this high impact expressway that will benefit the motoring public,” Bautista said. “The entire eight-kilometer NLEX Connector is vital to ensure improved mobility within Metro Manila.”

Department of Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar said the first five-kilometer section of the NLEX Connector, which runs between Caloocan Interchange and España Interchange, is now at 35-percent completion rate.
“We are working together with NLEX to expedite the right-of-way delivery within the properties of the Philippine National Railways,” Villar said. “Bored piling works and concrete casting of columns have started in the Manila area from Solis all the way to Dimasalang.”
Up to 35,000 motorists will find it easier to travel between Manila’s Port Area, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and the Clark International Airport once the P23-billion NLEX Connector Road is completed. It will also cut travel time between NLEX and SLEX from over two hours to just 20 minutes.
“As a reliable partner of the government, we are committed to completing our projects as scheduled to help address traffic congestion and provide the needed infrastructure boost that will support the country’s economic growth,” Bautista said.
