PAL Among Top 10 Safest Airlines in the World During COVID-19 Pandemic
Despite internal issues rocking the country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has been named one of the top 10 safest airlines to travel with during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 150 airlines have been listed in the Safe Travel Barometer, and PAL was ranked the eighth safest airlines in the world. The list was determined based on 20 health and safety measures that are in place to protect passengers during this global pandemic.
“The fundamental premise of Safe Travel Score is to benchmark travel brands’ initiatives to reduce traveler anxiety,” said Virendra Jain, founder of Safe Travel. “Our independent rating centered on traveler health and safety measures establishes a baseline for travel brands, while equally offering travelers a glimpse into what they can expect in their journeys.”
On a scale of one to five, PAL scored 4.2, beating China Airlines and Alaska Airlines. AirAsia scored the same as PAL but was ranked higher at seventh place. Lufthansa topped the list with a score of 4.5. Another Philippine carrier, Cebu Pacific, was measured on the list but only scored 3.2 (68th).
