John Paul L. Ang, currently the president and CEO of Eagle Cement Corp., has been elected to join the board of directors of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), which is headed by his father, SMC’s president and COO Ramon S. Ang.

John Paul Ang is the eldest child of RSA. He has been heading Eagle Cement, a publicly traded company, since 2008. Eagle Cement is RSA’s manufacturing venture separate from San Miguel, and debuted on the stock exchange in 2017. RSA is currently the chairman of Eagle Cement, but day-to-day management has been led by his eldest son, CEO John Paul Ang, and his daughter, CFO Monica L. Ang.

Prior to heading Eagle Cement, John Paul worked at a Malaysian cement company for five years, learning the tricks of the cement trade. He then joined Eagle Cement and played an integral role in building it into one of the biggest cement players in the country today.

On SMC’s board, John Paul Ang will fill in the vacant seat left by former director Reynaldo David, who recently passed away.

John Paul is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University.
