Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR) has officially broken ground on Grand Summit Bohol on the shores of Doljo, Panglao Island. Slated to open in 2029, the upscale project marks a major milestone as the "first major homegrown hospitality group" to deploy capital into this high-growth tourism corridor.

The development represents a highly calculated entry into Bohol, which the Philippine government has designated as a top-tier priority destination under its National Tourism Development Plan. By introducing its premium Grand Summit brand to the island, RHR—the hospitality arm of real estate company Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) of the Gokongwei Group—is positioning itself to capture a lucrative intersection of premium leisure and high-capacity corporate travel.

With an inventory of over 200 rooms and suites, a grand ballroom, and several function rooms for corporate conventions, Grand Summit Bohol is expected to tap into the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) market. Even its physical location was chosen with the intent to blend beachfront leisure and business travel.

"A core pillar of our expansion plan is to showcase the incredible landscape diversity of the Philippines. In this regard, Bohol was an undeniable choice—it is a stunning, unique, and highly viable destination that perfectly complements our vision. Doljo Beach in Panglao, where Grand Summit will rise, offers a serene 'hidden gem' vibe. It is a quiet, tranquil spot offering a long, wide stretch of powdery white sand and stunning, uninterrupted sunset views. It’s perfectly aligned with the exclusivity of our Grand Summit brand," Barun Jolly, RLC Senior Vice President and RHR Business Unit General Manager, said in a statement.

The property is also located just 20 minutes from the Panglao International Airport, easily creating a logistics advantage for international delegations.

"RLC has always been a builder of communities. Our entry into Bohol through Grand Summit is an investment in the province’s potential as a premier global hub. The Panglao international airport is a significant factor in the area’s incredible growth, offering seamless convenience for travelers, located just 20 minutes from Doljo Beach, where Grand Summit Bohol will stand," Robinsons Land Corporation President and CEO Mybelle Aragon-GoBio stated.

This expansion reinforces RHR’s position as the most diversified hotel operator in the Philippines. The group—recently named Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group at the World Travel Awards and Best Hospitality Developer at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards—maintains an aggressive, multi-tiered growth strategy. It currently has 30 properties, with brands including NUSTAR Hotel Cebu, Fili, The Westin Manila, Dusit Thani Mactan, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Holiday Inn and Suites Manila Galleria, Grand Summit Hotels, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Go Hotels Plus, and Go Hotels.
