High-Speed Fortunes: This Is How Much Tech Giants Earn Per Minute

Tech's money machines.

Gadgets, software, and social media rule our lives all day, every day. But how much does our addiction cost? CNBC Make It looked into the quarterly earnings of the top seven tech brands in the world (Amazon, Apple, Alphabet/Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Tesla, and Netflix) and found out just how much these tech giants earned per minute in Q1 of 2021.

Suffice to say, these tech giants are mega money machines, raking in millions per hour and hundreds of thousands per minute. Of the seven brands CNBC took a look at, Netflix came in last. For every minute Netflix users binge, the streaming platform earns $55,270. Elon Musk's Tesla follows Netflix with $80,162 per minute, while Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook earns double Tesla's per minute revenues at $201,937. Bill Gates's Microsoft takes fourth place with $321,806 per minute, followed by Google with $426,806. But it's Amazon and Apple that take the cake.

Jeff Bezos' e-commerce platform earns almost $1 million per minute at $873,330, while Apple makes about $691,235 in the same time frame.

So the next time you open a social media app, stream a show, or shop online, these tech giants have you to thank for their massive revenues.

Here are tech's biggest money-making machines.
