Dubbed the "Thai invasion," Thai pop culture has gained a loyal following around the world with hit shows like Girl From Nowhere and TharnType: The Series and movies like Bad Genius and Pee Mak. TNT’s campaign comes as Thai series and films take Filipino viewers by storm.
“Filipinos and Thais have always had mutual appreciation for each other’s wealth of entertainment content, but we’ve seen this grow even bigger recently as more Filipinos enjoy easy access to streaming platforms and social media through TNT’s value-packed promos,” said Jane J. Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.
TNT’s Thai ambassadors Nonkul Chanon, Gulf Kanawut, and Mario Maurer have all starred in some of the most internationally popular Thai films to date. Nonkul Chanon’s Bad Genius broke records in 2017 and is the best performing international Thai film ever. Gulf Kanawut is a rising star in Thailand and his show TharnType The Series is currently streaming in the Philippines. Meanwhile, Mario Maurer is no stranger to fame and was the lead actor in Thailand’s highest grossing film of all time, the comedy-horror film Pee Mak.
