In the Next Pandemic Season of The Final Pitch, Investors Seek Startups That Can Rebuild the Nation
The pandemic has changed everything—how we work, how we travel, and now, how we do business. In the last season of The Final Pitch, the Philippines’ top business reality show, investors focused on startups in line with the season’s “Heroes Edition” to alleviate the struggles brought upon by the pandemic. Now in The Final Pitch’s seventh season, investors will pivot to seek the startups that can help not just in nation-building, but also in rebuilding the nation.
The seventh season, which is slated to air on CNN Philippines sometime in October of this year, will feature a new panel of distinguished investor-judges made up of the thought leaders and entrepreneurial titans of our time. They are: Dennis Uy, CEO of Converge ICT Solutions; Bernard Dy, mayor of Cauayan City; Ricky Villarante, chairman and CEO of 8Ventures; Rose Ong, senior executive vice president - COO of Wilcon Depot; and David Almirol, founder and CEO of Multisys Technologies Corporation.
From telco and tech CEOs to a leader of an LGU, this diverse panel will also be joined by this year’s group of mentors for the participating startups. These business mentors are: Dean Bernales, managing director, Uniquecorn Strategies; Patt Soyao, managing director, Icon Executive Search; and Hiyasmin Neri-Soyao, managing director, Shoppertainment Live.
The show will be hosted by its creator, John Aguilar, who emphasizes the importance of this season’s focus on utilizing entrepreneurship toward “nation rebuilding.”
"Before, we used to always emphasize nation-building, but with the challenges we continue to face, we realize that it is first and foremost a collective nation rebuilding effort. That's the focus of this season— to give a break to these entrepreneurs and introduce them to the right people who may be in a position to help them, whether it's through funding, resources, or network," shared Aguilar.

A hybrid virtual setup is in place as a safety precaution as the delta variant of COVID-19 is still present. Investors will participate via video calls from their respective offices while the contestants will gather at The Final Pitch Studios at Dragon’s Nest in Libis, Quezon City.
The Dragon’s Nest has been retrofitted to include a negative pressure mechanical ventilation system and is also subject to deep cleaning and a special antiviral and anti-bacterial coating. The studio will act as a bubble for the duration of filming and all persons on the set will be vaccinated and tested.
