Alliance Global Group Donates 1 Million Liters of Alcohol to Frontliners, DOH, LGUs
Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI), holding firm of Megaworld tycoon Andrew Tan, has announced that it will be donating one million liters of 70 percent ethyl alcohol to the frontliners in urgent need of medical and disinfecting materials.
With the average bottle of alcohol being about 250 milliliters, AGI’s donation is equivalent to around four million bottles of alcohol. One of AGI's subsidiaries is Emperador, Inc. But don't worry. AGI will be producing one million liters of disinfecting alcohol, not brandy.
To produce this, AGI will denature 850,000 liters of 96 percent ethyl alcohol, converting it into usable sanitizing and disinfectant high school, to the people working around the clock to stop COVID-19. This includes frontliners from the healthcare system as well as the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local government units that are enforcing the government’s enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
Calling the frontliners the “real heroes” of this pandemic, AGI said it hopes to distribute the product to “as many, if not all” the hospitals dealing with COVID-19 patients.
“We need to protect our frontliners—the doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel—whose lives are at risk in protecting and treating people from the virus,” said AGI CEO Kevin Andrew Tan.
AGI is composed of several diversified companies, including Megaworld Corporation, Resorts World Manila, Empire East Land Holdings, Suntrust Properties, and Emperador, Inc.
Since Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine, all the major conglomerates in the country have been preparing funds and donations to stop the health crisis. These companies include San Miguel Corporation, Ayala Corporation, SM Group, JG Summit, and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
