Billionaire Andrew Tan Hangs Out With His Grandkids During Quarantine

Billionaire Andrew Tan, chairman of Alliance Global, is making sure to spend quality time with his family during the coronavirus pandemic.

In this contributed photo, the 67-year-old can be seen with three of his grandchildren—kids of his son Kendrick Tan, who is executive director of one of his companies, Emperador Distillers Inc. The elder Tan is reading to them about environmental sustainability.

It’s the first time the intensely private taipan has publicly shared a tender moment with his grandkids.

Tan, whom Forbes magazine ranked seventh on its list of richest Filipinos this year with a net worth of $1.9 billion, has donated over P600 million to COVID-19 relief efforts through Alliance Global and its subsidiaries, including Megaworld, Emperador Inc., Mcdonld’s Philippines and Resorts World Manila (a joint venture with Genting Hong Kong). The company has also donated one million liters of ethyl alcohol to medical personnel and frontliners.

His Megaworld Lifestyle Malls opened last week, with stringent safety protocols for its customers. The company’s casinos and hotels, however, have remained closed.
