Century Properties Names Marco Antonio New President and CEO
After 33 years, the founder, president and CEO of leading property development company Century Properties Group—Ambassador Jose EB Antonio—is handing the reins of the company over to one of his sons.
Marco Antonio, who was the company’s chief cooperating officer, was officially appointed CPG’s new president and CEO late last month.
Forty-four-year-old Marco is the second son of Amb. Antonio. His brothers—47-year-old John Victor Antonio, 43-year-old Jose Roberto Antonio, and 36-year-old Jose Carlo Antonio—will remain members of the company’s Board of Directors.
“This new role of Marco in the company affirms the Board’s trust and confidence in his leadership, given his more than two decades of professional experience and wide exposure in the company’s operations handling different aspects of the business,” said the 73-year-old Amb. Antonio, who will continue on as Executive Chairman of the company. “The CPG Board of Directors congratulates our new President and CEO for this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to an even more energized company under his management.”
Established in 1986, Century Properties is well known for its upscale properties in and around Metro Manila. Many of its projects were developed in partnership with internationally acclaimed architects, designers and luxury brands, including IM Pei, Missoni Home, Versace Home, Paris Hilton, Armani Casa, Forbes and Trump. CPG became a publicly listed company in 2012 and has since sold 91 percent of about 20,000 residential units launched as well as completed 26 buildings with a combined total of 14,000 units and 1.3 million square meters of gross floor area.
According to a release, Marco Antonio started working for CPG in 1996 after a stint at The Blackstone Group in New York City. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (dual major in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management) from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1995 and received his masters degree in Business Administration with a major in Strategic Management from the Wharton School in 2004.
Marco served as Managing Director for 22 years and held this position concurrently when he was appointed COO. As Managing Director, Marco supervised company operations from research and development to feasibility and execution, ensuring marketability and profitability of projects to achieve quarterly and annual sales targets. As a Project Manager for various developments of the company for 15 years, he handled property conceptualization, construction, marketing, promotions, sales operations and property turnover.
“The experience of working at Century over the past 20 years has been nothing short of transformative,” he said. “I am thankful for and would like to continue my Chairman’s legacy of trailblazing innovation and bringing the best real estate concepts to the Philippines.
“I am grateful and humbled for the faith all of you have collectively bestowed upon me,” he added. “I take on this fiduciary responsibility wholeheartedly as I aim to be the best steward I can be for CPG. Together with our professional management and all our hardworking employees, we will turn to the next exciting chapter of CPG with a culture of passion, excellence and innovation that I believe translates to a better product for our customer, and a better company for all our stakeholders.
