Frontliners Help Frontliners: Foodpanda Donates Groceries to Garbage Collectors, Street Sweepers

With the streets not yet clear of COVID-19, frontliners are still in danger of catching the coronavirus months into quarantine. Emergency responders, quarantine center personnel, garbage collectors, and street sweepers—these are just some of the underrated and at-risk frontliners who brave going out in public every day.

But their efforts are not going unnoticed. Foodpanda, now celebrating its 6th year anniversary, has donated thousands of food packs full of grocery goods to these frontliners through its grocery delivery service “shops.” The popular food delivery app has also donated goods to local communities in Makati City, Taguig City, and Quezon City in Luzon, Cebu City in the Visayas, and Davao City in Mindanao.

Thousands of families in urban areas have been affected by the ongoing quarantine and pandemic, putting livelihoods at stake. Foodpanda’s initiative hopes to alleviate this struggle for the families it can reach.

On a daily basis, Foodpanda delivery riders become frontliners themselves to bring food to its customers, and with this donation, Foodpanda frontliners get to help other frontliners.

“Being on the frontlines of this pandemic and operating through ECQ and GCQ has opened our eyes to the plight of our fellow frontliners. Just as we value our riders who brave the streets every day, we wanted to show our appreciation for our quarantine center staff, garbage collectors and street sweepers who are literally keeping the country together,” said foodpanda Philippines Managing Director Daniel Marogy. “At a time like this, we, at foodpanda, believe it’s important to celebrate a milestone such as a 6th anniversary by sharing our blessings to these heroes.”
